Kentucky Wine & Vine Fest named a Top 10 Festival
The Kentucky Travel Industry Association has selected The Kentucky Wine & Vine Fest as a  2013 Top 10 Event. The annual festival held in Nicholasville is now its 10th year and has grown into Kentucky's premiere showcase for vineyards and winemaking. Criteria for selection as Top 10 Event include popularity of the event, its impact on the local tourism economy as well as cultural and historical significance.

In addition to the wine, visitors enjoy Kentucky Proud Foods, Kentucky arts & crafts, unique strolling musicians, and the ever-popular Run for the Merlot Contest.  The festival has been dubbed "Kentucky's Official Wine Fest" by an act of the Kentucky Legislature.The 2013 Kentucky Wine & Vine Fest will be held rain or shine on May 18 downtown Nicholasville.

Officers
New officers for 2012 selected
at Annual Meeting

Nicholasville NOW, a Kentucky Main Street Program, confirmed their 2012 officers and board of directors at the annual meeting in March. The new officers are (from left in the photo above) Tonya Coleman, Nicholasville NOW Executive Director; Robert Amburgey, Vice President; Darlene Gardner, President; Stephanie Routt, Treasurer; and Ruby Mason, Secretary.

Board members for 2012 are Bert Grayson, David Chrisman, Geri Polvino, Jeff McDanald, Kelley Woolums, Mark Miller, Ronda May and Tommy Cobb. Tonya Coleman will continue her service as Executive Director. Nicholasville NOW works with local and state government and community leaders to promote a viable downtown.

Meyer signs documents for downtown traffic lights.
Oct. 24, 2012, Nicholasville Mayor Russs Meyer recieved the blessing from the city commission to sign a supplemental agreement for Phase 2 of the downtown streetscape project for $750,000. Phase 2 of the streetscape project calls for signal mast-arm traffic lights, which will eliminate wires strung above the roads. Accordin to city clerk Roberta Warren, $625,000 of the money will go toward construction, while the remaining $125,000 will go toward design. Construction may start as early as Spring 2013.
